Bajet Johor 2014/2015

YAB Datuk Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin
Menteri Besar Johor
Y.Bhg. Dato’ Dr. Pang Chau Leong
Director General, Department of Skills Development, Ministry of Human Resources

Education and skills training are critical drivers for the country’s mission to transform from a middle to high income nation due to its impact on productivity and human capital development. It is also an engine of growth in its own right, as well as an underlying enabler for the national economy. The Educational National Key Economic Area (NKEA) has identified “Scaling Up of Private Skills Training Provision” as among the initiatives to achieve this transformation.

In this regard, the Department of Skills Development supports the initiatives put forward under the Skills Johor project in establishing an industry driven training hub valued at RM155 million in the State of Johor. It is our understanding that the hub offers recognised Technical and Vocational Education Training with accredited training institutions both locally and internationally.

The partnership between private entities in training and development such as the consortium led by the Federation of JPK Accredited Centres (FEMAC), established industries in cooperation with the State of Johor Darul Takzim, is encouraged. This will create and provide a new dimension of learning skills to school leavers and adult learners who are not academically inclined to pursue their training.

With the participation of Skills Johor under our Entry Point Project, it will be entrusted with the responsibility to implement initiatives that are in line with the objectives of the National Key Economic Area for the benefit of nation and people.
